The call for entries for the “Il Borgo dei Misteri” (Village of Mysteries) arts and literature competition has been approved and is ready for release.
The competition is open to all residents of Borgo a Mozzano and the municipalities of the Middle Serchio Valley,
with the special participation of schools from the local Comprehensive Institute.
The competition—which transforms local heritage and stories into a journey of civic co-creation where
all inhabitants, and especially young people and their creativity, play a leading role—takes place during the
Festival’s preparatory phase. The submitted works will form an “Archive of Shadows” accessible to
tourists and residents alike, and capable of being showcased in other European countries.
Participants may choose a location within the municipality of Borgo a Mozzano that they find
particularly mysterious and create a drawing or write a text—such as a story,
anecdote, description, or free interpretation. The chosen location may be real or reimagined through
fantasy. The competition aims to invite participants to view familiar places with fresh eyes,
highlighting details that usually go unnoticed, while letting curiosity and
imagination guide them. Indeed, all submissions will be used to create a digital “Mystery Map”
that can be used and accessed throughout the area.
